call to action, epcot, disney, the future
Disney’s Future Gets An A For Effort
Last week, my girlfriend and I treated ourselves to a day at Walt Disney World. We ran through three parks: Animal Kingdom, Magic Kindom and (my personal favorite) EPCOT. While at EPCOT, we rode in the “giant golf ball”. Within this regional icon is a ride called “Spaceship Earth”. The major conceit here is that each “ride” is personalized with a vision of your potential future, based on your interests. It’s personalized by showing a flash animation video with in your cart at the end of the ride.
When all is said and done, you’re lead into a room where you can further experience Disney’s outlook on the future. But most importantly, there is a kiosk with a touch screen panel which allows you to email yourself the personalized future video. When I received the email, it looked like this:
As you can see, the main call-to-action image is broken. I’m assuming this was intended to be a screen-cap of our animated video. (If you’re curious to see if yourselves, go here)
It was a bit disappointing that Disney hit the nail on the head for the entire experience until this final point. The execution was there, but some hiccup must have occurred in the back-end that cause the image to not render. So all in all, the email was a win, but more for the ability to send the video to yourself rather than the email itself. Hopefully this post will be seen by their developers and they will fix the broken image issue I experienced.
